An Invitation to Come

Pause for a moment . . . and hear the Lord (through your own voice!) extend His invitation to you through the verses below. Speak these verses out loud, perhaps multiple times. Let His voice and Spirit touch your heart. Don’t just read the words, but take your time while soaking in them and listening to His promises for you:

“Come to me, you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke (my teaching) upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

“______________ (your name), you are worried and upset about many things but only one thing is necessary. Sit at my feet and listen to what I say. Choose this and you will have chosen what is best and I will not take it away from you.” (Luke 10:41, personalized)

“______________, when you get up and come to me, your heavenly Father, while you are still a long way off and I see you; I am filled with compassion for you. Even now I run to you, throw my arms around you and kiss you!” (Luke 15:20, personalized)

“Ask me and I will give you living water. It is my gift, my heart! Drink the water I give you and you will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give you will become in you a spring of living water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:10, 13-14, personalized)

“Because you love me, ____________, my Father loves you and I, too love you and will show myself to you.” (John 14:21, personalized)

“Today, out of my glorious riches, I, your Father, will strengthen you with power by my Spirit in your inner being where Jesus dwells in your heart by faith. Being rooted and established in my love, I will give you the ability to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus—my love for YOU, ____________—a love that surpasses knowledge so that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of me, your God.” (Ephesians 14:16-19, personalized)

How did you experience God’s invitation to come be with Him? We encourage you to take some time and respond to God, either in prayer or through journaling (or both!). When you are feeling lost or inadequate, come back to this page (our our Love Verses page) to be reminded of His great love for you.
