Everyone needs to be loved. Just as our body needs food, water, rest and exercise to be healthy and never matures out of those needs, so our spirit, our soul needs to be loved in order to be healthy (i.e., secure, at peace, joyful) and it never matures out of that need. God knows that and wants our souls to “Taste and see that He is good” (Ps. 34:8; 1 Pt. 2:3) and to experience his love that is “better than life” so that our “souls are satisfied as with the richest of foods” (Ps. 63:3-5). Moses prayed that God would: “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days” (Ps. 90:14).
Our Weekend Events
FIRST LOVED: Experience God love you, up close and personal, as he loved the disciples through Jesus.
FIRST LOVED is a 2 or 3-day “Taste and See” weekend to experience God love you, up close and personal, as he loved the disciples through Jesus. You will discover how you can experience him love you personally today, with words and actions, through the Love Verse and God-sighting practices. The Love Verse practice is a way of engaging scripture so that God speaks to you lovingly and personally through scripture. The God-sighting practice is a way of recalling and meditating on your loving interactions so that you experience him love you through those interactions. As you experience God love you – personally, practically, and daily – you are both loved and trained to love others as he commanded you – “As I have loved you, love one another” [John 13:34].
Our 2-day FIRST LOVED “Taste and See” weekend is Friday evening from 6:30-10:00pm and Saturday from 8:00 – 5:30pm and includes times of worship, teaching, private time with God, and times of loving interaction with one another in small group. Cost varies but includes the FIRST LOVED workbook. Generally, a church hosts this event.
Our 3-day FIRST LOVED “Taste and See” weekend begins on Friday evening at 6:30 and concludes on Sunday at 2:00pm. This weekend provides an additional session that helps to expose and begin to remove a common barrier to receiving God’s love – our shame! It also provides deeper interaction with our trained facilitators and offers a more relaxed environment to linger in the Lord’s presence and love, and with one another. [Note: Sometimes this is a “commuter” event where participants sleep elsewhere. The schedule is Friday, 6:30-10:00; Saturday 8:00 to 8:00; Sunday 8:00 to 2:00]. The cost varies but includes the FIRST LOVED workbook.
GETTING ALONG: Stopping Relational Madness – Biblical Steps to Healing Conversations.
How often do you feel hopeless and helpless to change the madness, the times of insanity you experience in your relationships because you continue to process your pain, anger, guilt, shame, and fear in ways that only hurt people more and do not resolve or change things? GETTING ALONG offers hope for change! With Holy Spirit’s help, you can truly learn new ways of responding to pain and anger when you’ve been wronged, and to shame, guilt, and fear when you’ve wronged someone. It gives practical steps to walking out Jesus’ commands to “rebuke them (if they sin against you)” (Luke 17:3), “go and point out their fault” (Matthew 18:15), and “go and be reconciled” (Matthew 5:23-24). The process – STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, LOVE, and CHANGE are applications of biblical texts that give specific instructions for dealing with these issues. It also includes instruction on expressing a “Love-based Apology” and a memory healing prayer model for healing past hurts.
Currently, an overview of GETTING ALONG is introduced as a weekend seminar either hosted by FLM or by a church or other organization. It is Friday night 6:30 – 10:00 and Saturday 8:00-5:00. There are times of personal reflection and application, and you will leave with immediately usable skills. But it is primarily an overview to give hope for change. Cost varies according to venue and includes the GETTING ALONG workbook.
